CO Hultén has played a key role in Swedish art history. This exhibition, which spans several decades, focuses on his intense paintings, but will also feature works from CO Hultén’s extensive private collection of African sculptures and masks.
As a central figure in the avant-garde group Imaginisterna (The Imaginists), formed in 1945, CO Hultén has played a key role in Swedish art history. In 1948, he joined the Cobra group, which also included Asger Jorn.
In addition to featuring CO Hultén’s vibrant paintings, the exhibition will highlight Hultén’s career as a designer and founder of Image förlag. To put CO Hultén’s oeuvre in context, other artists will also be presented, including members of the Imaginists, Cobra and artists who exhibited at Galerie Colibri in Malmö or were closely associated with CO Hultén in other ways.
On the opening day of the exhibition, 25 February at 3 pm, curator Magnus Jensner and Thomas Millroth will give a guided tour of the exhibition. In Swedish.
