"Nexus Architecture and Connector IV". Lucy Orta has been researching the poetic nature of clothing and portable habitats for the past ten year. Her trasformable sculptures, Refuge Wear, Body Architecture and Modular Architecture, are higlhy original concepts for mobility, nomadism and networking. Orta's first solo show in the US includes her work with at-risk teenagers in workshop at Metropolitan Ministries, Tampa, as new architectural infrastructure for social space, commissioned by the USF CAM.

Lucy Orta has been researching the poetic nature of clothing and portable habitats for the past ten year. Her trasformable sculptures, Refuge Wear, Body Architecture and Modular Architecture, are higlhy original concepts for mobility, nomadism and networking.
She conceives an art in the form of creative enterprise touching on fashion, design and architecture and integrates many different participants into her design process. Much of her time is spent working with marginalized communities as a direct way of addressing the plight of the unemployed and homeless.

Lucy Orta (born Birmingham, England) has lived in Paris
for the past 12 years where she worked as a designer in
the garment and fashion industry. In 1992 Orta began to
design multifunctional clothes that transform according to
an individualÕs needs. Her designs are functional,
providing assistance for urgent situations such as
natural/social/ or political catastrophies. Her clothing,
survival kits and modular dwelling, developed in
collaboration with a community groups aound the world,
function both practically and metaphorically to address the
plight of such groups such as the homeless, at-risk teens
and the unemployed.
