One Seed in Four Stages by Mat Laibowitz is a large-scale piece comprised of four window installations connected by an illumination unit traveling from window to window. This "seed" illuminates the sculptural elements in a narrative order and alters their content and presentation as it moves, thereby acting as a "seed" of change, an element of decay or generation, that leads into the next stage. Best viewed at night.
Mat Laibowitz has shown a diverse body of work spanning installation and interactive art, photography, and film at a variety of venues including the Compton Gallery, Longhouse, the MIT Museum, Fellisimo House of Design, McGill, and Eyebeam. As a musician, Mat Laibowitz has performed at the Limelight and at South By Southwest. He currently spends a lot of time at the MIT Media Lab and working as a product designer.
