Turn the Table
Artspace Fine Art Gallery, Johannesburg
The gallery has provided artists with the unusual medium of longplaying old vinyl records. Each artist will create a piece of art using their chosen record or records. The content of the work will based in and around artists own discretion while keeping with the theme of turning the table.
Group show
Over the past four years the Oppitafel exhibition at Artspace-Johannesburg
has generated great interest and enthusiasm from the public and artists
alike. With its unusual theme this end of year exhibition has brought much
success in promoting Artspace as well as the artists that took part in the
collaborations. This year, with a slight twist, we introduce our fifth
installment of this exhibition. Instead of Oppitafel, Artspace has decided
to elaborate on these exhibitions’ past accomplishments and call the show
TURN THE TABLE. The initiative here is to add a fresh new dimension to an
already successful event.
The gallery has provided artists with the unusual medium of longplaying old
vinyl records. Each artist will create a piece of art using their chosen
record or records. The content of the work will based in and around artists
own discretion while keeping with the theme of turning the table. Expect to
see an array of different content at the show; anything from paintings to
sculpture to new media.
This group show, represented by well known artists, will run from the start
of December, taking a break for the Christmas holidays, continuing through
to the end of January. There will be a grand opening and year-end-party on
Sunday 3 December at 17: 30 pm. As part of an end of the year celebration of
exhibits held during the year, a festive table will be laid and
participating artists will be attending.
