Island Life. New Works

Sea Breeze is excited to showcase Island Life, new art from one of its resident talents. The work is a series of evocative riffs on the natural world, and in particular, common objects that are linked to both the Hawaiian locale and its Asian heritage which the artist shares. Through a variety of media and techniques, these paintings explore the hidden in the everyday life around us, adjusting the focal length across the spectrum of figuration.

As a powerful tool to engage the audience, the artist invites her guests to participate by rearranging groups of small modular abstract paintings on the innovative Interactive Wall. This promises to be an exciting highlight of C. Lynns fascinating and engaging exhibition.

About C. Lynn
C. Lynn Tegenfeldt, a native Angelino and resident for many years, is now established in the New Art City of Ventura. She arrived at her calling via a roundabout life trajectory and a short series of art courses which gave her plenty of inspiration and just enough instruction to develop a remarkable, distinctive, unorthodox voice.

Her energetic style may vaguely hint at the textures of Van Gogh or the palette of Monet and Gauguin but she transcends an easy label although she has been called a naturalist abstractionist. As her new series emphasizes, she deconstructs the natural world, often in macro, delighting in micro-cosmos of astonishing beauty and diversity that mostly go unnoticed.

It is no accident that photographic terms come up in discussions of C. Lynn since her early creative work was with the camera and she continues to shape ideas through a dialogue between brush, palette knife and digital lens. If pressed, she would describe herself as a painter, yet her photography is attracting serious attention as well.

About Sea Breeze
One of the first of the current generation artistic working communities in Ventura, Sea Breeze Art Studios is currently home to over a dozen multi-talented artists working in a range of media from painting, photography, and assemblage to music and fiber and textile art. It is also the site of youth art classes. Sea Breeze Art Gallery hosted the first gallery exhibition for the Lincoln Elementary School art students and supports many community events including poetry and drama readings, with noted annual shows such as its Day of the Dead celebration. Sandra McCullough, the founding artist and manager, has utilized her Zen outlook to help cultivate a vibrant and close-knit community that is right in the center, literally and figuratively, of the fresh Ventura art scene.
